Rocky Mountain Rubber was started by Jack Gubbins in 1961. Jack worked for several years as a salesman for Union Carbide, and wanted to go into business for himself. The business was started in a small warehouse with one mill and one press. Over the years, the business grew and he added new machines.

In 1979 Jack's son, John joined the firm after graduating from the University of Colorado. John brought the company up to current technological standards by being one of the first companies in the area to computerize. John bought Jack out in 1992 and is continuing the tradition to be at the forefront of elastomeric technology.
